Silverware for Blairgowrie at Crieff 7s.
Saturday 28 Apr 12, a squad of Blairgowrie senior players travelled west to take part in the annual Crieff 7’s knowing that it has been a good number of years since they have won any silverware at this tournament. Having lost their first group match to a strong former Heriots players ‘select’ and Michael Black having to retire with a leg injury things did not look very promising particularly when they also lost their second group match against Alloa RFC despite a well taken try by Russell Waddell. Golf and AGM
The Annual Rugby Club Golf outing which takes place this year at the Blair Atholl Golf Club on Saturday 19th May is now fully booked. Payment to Duncan MacRae please.
Please note that the Rugby Club AGM will take place at the clubhouse at 7.30 pm on Friday 1st June. All players and members are encouraged to attend
Belfast Tour A Huge Success
Friday 30 Mar 12 a group of 30 players and ‘support staff’ from Blairgowrie Rugby Club travelled to Belfast for their annual club tour with a match arranged for the Saturday against Malone RFC 3rds. With Malone regularly fielding at least 5 teams every Saturday and having produced no less than 22 full Ireland internationalists and 6 British Lions this was always going to be a stiff test for the Blairgowrie lads. Blair End Season on a Losing Note
Saturday 14 Apr 12, saw a large crowd at the J J Coupar Park where the Blairgowrie senior team were hosting Carnoustie RFC in the last game of the season in the RBS Midlands League Division II. Having beaten Carnoustie on their own patch earlier this season this was always going to be a keenly contested match and so it proved with the visitors fielding a much stronger team than they had done so earlier in the season. Hat Tirck of Tries for Big Mark
With the last RBS Caledonia League game of season against Carnoustie RFC now scheduled for Saturday 14th April Stobswell RFC kindly agreed to come along to Blairgowrie for a friendly match last Saturday. With a number of regular first team players unavailable it allowed a number of fringe players to play a full game against a very much improved Stobswell team.
