Blair Go Down to Glenrothes
Saturday 21 Feb 09, the Blairgowrie senior squad returned to league duty after a 3 week spell without a game with a home match against high flying Glenrothes who are currently second in Caledonia League Division 1.
Blairgowrie started off strongly but it was the visitors who went into an early lead with a breakaway try in the corner. Unfortunately for Blairgowrie lock forward Peter Duncan was sin binned for 10 minutes as he was adjudged to have tackled too high in his last ditch attempt to prevent Glenrothes scoring. Despite this early setback Blairgowrie had long periods of pressure but as has been the case for much of this season they just could not find that cutting edge to convert pressure into points with only a converted penalty by Stephen Souter to show for their efforts in the first half. Conversely Glenrothes appeared to be able to score every time they went up the park adding a further 3 tries before the interval to make the half time score Blairgowrie 3 Glenrothes 24.
The second half proved to be a rather scrappy affair with a combination of mistakes and missed opportunities with Glenrothes adding another 3 tries to make the final score Blairgowrie 3 Glenrothes 45.
