Boxing Day 2009

Despite the wintry conditions and at least 4 inches of snow covering the pitches at the J J Coupar Park over 30 players braved the elements for a mini touch rugby completion on Boxing Day. With four teams competing and a host of tries being scored during the afternoon the final result was deemed an honourable draw. Following the exertions of the afternoon a large number of players, club members and guests adjourned to the clubhouse afterwards for some well deserved festive refreshments with special thanks to Ali MacRae for preparing the food and to Gordon, Fraser and Michael for manning the bar throughout the afternoon and evening.

The previous weekend the clubhouse saw an excellent turnout of players and guests for the Xmas Quiz Night. The winning team on the night were the ’Scwelchers’ consisting of Ewan and Lisa Morrison and Phil and Lorna Jones. At the end of the evening Club President Gordon Black thanked all those who had contributed to a  most successful evening and to all those who contributed to the raffle but particularly to Robert Larsen for ably organising the event.

The Rugby Club Committee would like to wish all the players, club members and friends a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. The next league match for the seniors is scheduled for Saturday 9th January away to Bannockburn with the next home match against Arbroath on Saturday 16th. Training continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.00 at the J J Coupar Park. New players welcome.
