Rams Prove Training Pays Off

Blairgowrie Rams RFC ,P1-7 section, travelled to Panmure Club in Broughty Ferry on Sunday after three weeks of training without a game. The Primary school section is split into three groups; p1-3, p4/5 and p6/7. Nearly 30 travelled excited by putting their training into practice and against the formidable club of Panmure.

The Micro’s P1-3 had two games. Many of the team are mainly P2’s and played some high calibre rugby winning one game and losing one. The first game was against a team mainly made up of P3’s, but good tackling by all kept the score down to 4-0. The second game saw a Rams win by 4-0 with tries from Bruce Campbell, Ben Robertson (2) and Fergus Barron. Strong tackling by Steven Fairnington, Harvey South and Hayley Todd prevented Panmure scoring.

The Mini’s P4-5 had two games. The first game saw a hard fought game ending in a 4 all draw. Tries by Rob Alexander, James McCaig, Findlay Walker and Myles Reid. All played well with some great individual runs, combined with team work. Game two saw Blairgowrie show their stamina as they went on to win 6-4. Tries by Myles Reid (2),James McCaig (3) and Robert Davies (shown in attached photograph) ensured a good win. All the team played well. Team- Harry Foggo-Smith, Rob Alexander, Robert Davies, James McCaig, Findlay Walker, Myles Reid, Scott Fairnington and Austin Barry.

The Midi P6/7, again played two games. The team showed some excellent rugby skills and bearing fruit from the training under the stewardship of Callum Gordon and Jackie Cockburn. Their superiority showed in the first game winning clearly by 7 tries with no reply. Tries were scored by John McLaren (2), Aaron Todd, Callum Todd, Oliver Todd, Fin Robertson and Louis Reid. The second game allowed the team to be changed to allow all a run out. The second game again saw a win of 8-2, tries by Aaron Todd, John McLaren (2), Callum Thom, Oliver Moore, Fin Robertson, Louis Reid and Craig Rimmer. The team played some entertaining rugby, great tackling and all showed some great individual running backed by the team. This was a great display of rugby and can only bode well for the future of Blairgowrie Senior team if all continue to show their dedication and great skills.

Training continues on Sunday at 1pm, with all welcome and new members encouraged.
