End of Season Funday for the Rams

Sunday 14 jun 10, the Blairgowrie Rugby Club youth section - now  known as the ‘Blairgowrie Rams’ ended the season with a fun day at the J J Coupar Park. All the players from Primary 1 to Senior 2 were split up into teams which then took part in a number of ‘it’s a knockout’ type challenges including obstacle races, rugby goal kicking, lineout throwing, and touch rugby against some of the senior club players. The winning team members were: Rob Alexander, Scott Gordon, Mathew Duncan, Adam Gordon, Callum Neil, Gordon Robertson and Connell MacIntyre.

Following the team challenge event a Rams select took on a team of senior players at touch rugby including Gavin Wynd, Michael Black, Peter Duncan, Andy Barnett, Bob Smith, Stephen Souter and Neil MacRae with the young Rams showing some great skills and scoring some great tries against their senior counterparts.

The 2009/2010 prizes were then handed out as follows:
Micro Section: Coaches Player - Ben Robertson. Players Player - Mathew Duncan. Most Improved - Bruce Campbell.
P4/P5 Section: Coaches Player - Rob Smith. Players Player - Rob Alexander. Most Improved - Scott Fairnington.
P6/P7 Section: Coaches Player -James McCaig. Players Player - John McLaren. Most Improved - Callum Blanche.
S1/S2 Section: Coaches Player - Callum Neil. Players Player - Gordon Robertson. Most Improved - Mathew Michie.

Following the prize giving newly elected Rams President Billy Campbell thanked Senior Club President Duncan MacRae for presenting the prizes, Vice President Peter Ireland for presenting the players certificates and the senior players for providing the touch rugby opposition. Billy also relayed his thanks to all ‘Rams’ players, coaches, parents and helpers for all their efforts over the past season and wished them an enjoyable summer break before training resumes again in August.
