Carnoustie - 14 Nov 10
Micros`s
Mathew Duncan, Archie Thomson, Jordan Hart, Cole Baxter, Aidan Milne, William Learmonth, David MacIntyre and Paul Damodaran.
The micro`s played one continuous rolling game so that the kids did not get cold, they all had great fun. Tries and good tackling galore, some fantastic running showing that it was all starting to click into place.
Tries from Mathew, Archie, Cole Aidan and Paul.
P4/5
Arran Barnett,Bruce Campbell, Fergus Barron, Andrew King, Callum Dawson, Steven Fairnington and Patrick Damodaran.
The first game was hard going for them against a well organised Carnoustie team. The young Rams never seemed to get going, Carnoustie always one step ahead.
As they went into the second game the passing and running was improved dramatically the only thing letting them down here was their tackling and they managed to keep the score at 5 - 5 with some fantastic running on their behalf. For the final game they made the teams 8 aside and they had a fun game to finish off which the kids really enjoyed.
Tries by Fergus Barron, Bruce Campbell and Arron Barnett.
P6/7
James McCaig, Scott Fairnington, Murray Freed Smith, Cameron Freed Smith and Angus Roberts.
With a very depleted squad we had to borrow a player from Carnoustie to make a 6 aside game. The kids made themselves count however gelling fantastically as a team. Some excellent running, superb passing and some devastating rucking for young players. The first game going to Blairgowrie 6 - 4. The second going to Blair again 6 - 2.
Tries by all the players today including the Carnoustie member we borrowed( not sure how popu;lar they would be with their friends).
S1/2
Blairgowrie travelled to Carnoustie with only 9 players but with a couple of players from the S3/4 team and by borrowing a another 2 players from the hosts a 13 aside match took place on a heavy pitch, the game was not as fast flowing as Blairgowrie are used to and turned more into a physical battle which on this occasion Carnoustie won with Blairgowrie going down 18-8.
The game was hard fought with Blairgowrie having to defend strongly. They have to work on support/ clearing out opposition and securing the ball whilst it is on the ground if they want to keep up the standard they have set themselves.
Blairgowries points were scored by Gordon Robertson 2 tries and conversions by Mathew Michie and John McLaren.
S3/4
This was the first game of the day and got Blairgowrie off to a good start. After borrowing 3 players from the S1/2 team a 13 aside match was able to take place and during this hard fought game there was some exceptional running and tackling by all the players despite the cold and heavy conditions. Blairgowrie ran out 11-0 winners. The points for Blairgowrie were scored by Callum Rimmer 1 try, Craig Mollison 2 tries and 2 conversions by George Ireland.
Thank you again to all the parent and kids who came along and thanks to Carnoustie for having us.
