Early Cup Exit for Blairgowrie

Saturday 8th Nov 08, Blairgowrie played hosts to Aberdeen Wanderers RFC in the first round of the Scottish Hydro Electric Cup. It was the visitors who controlled the early part of the game going into the lead with a converted try after just 10 minutes. Edinburgh Rugby

Blairgowrie are now an associate club with Edinburgh Rugby and this means we have a season ticket to attend home games and also have a car pass for the car park at Murryfield. The ticket is behind the bar and is available to any member of the club. This is to encourage support for the Edinburgh team so let’s get behind them and go to as many home games as possible. We will also receive a signed shirt from Chris Patterson but a date has yet to be arranged.

Blair Pay Dearly for Defensive Errors

Saturday 1st Nov 08, Blairgowrie travelled north to Stonehaven to take on local side Mackie RFC in a Caledonia League Division 1 fixture. Following a minute’s silence in memory of Mackie club stalwart John Narbett Blairgowrie took the kick off and were immediately unfairly penalised when Michael Black was deemed not to have released the ball when in fact he had not been held in the tackle. Much Improved Display by Blair Forwards

Saturday 25th Oct 08, Blairgowrie seniors played hosts to Aberdeen University RFC who are currently near the top of Caledonia League Division I. As was expected the students ran the ball at Blairgowrie from the kick off and went into a 3 point lead within a minute of the match starting after the home side conceded a penalty on their own 22 metre line. Walker Wins Points for Blair

Saturday 11 Oct 08, the Blairgowrie senior squad played hosts to Garioch RFC from Inverurie with the home side looking for their first league win of the season. In perfect playing conditions Blairgowrie kicked off and went into a 6 point lead within 10 minutes of play after two successful penalties converted by full back Stephen Souter. Despite losing wing forward Mick Bowen through injury early in the game Blairgowrie had the majority of possession in the first half with some god attacking runs from Fraser Bissett, Michael Black and Stephen Souter. Ladies Night

Friday 26 Sep was ‘Ladies Night’ at the clubhouse with a number of first team players entertaining a full house of ladies on what proved to be a most successful evening. The committee would like to thank Duncan Campbell, Stephen Souter and their ’team’ for organising the event and also to all those who kindly donated prizes for the raffle including The Royal Hotel, The Dreadnought Inn, Number 31, Something Special, Vitality, Set & Style and Butterflies of Blairgowrie.
